A Paris, Alexis Eymery Libraire, 1826. , in-12 (15.5 x 9.5 cm - 6.1 x 3.7 inches), 295 pp., contemporary three-quater black calf, spine raised on 4 bands underlined by gilt fillets, 3 compartment with blind stamped fleurons, 1 compartment gilt lettered, original wrappers preserved, uncut.
Le Caveau was a cabaret singers society founded in 1729, in Paris. Since 1733, they met in a Café called Le Caveau. Colle, Piron, Gresset, the two Crébillon, Helvetius, Rameau belonged to them. The compagny reappeared after the French Revolution (1797). And maintained its traditions all the XIXe century thanks to Capelle, who installed the society in 1805, rue Montorgueil. Beranger entered there in 1813. Pierre Capelle (1772-1841) had founded in 1805 with Grimod de la Reyniere, Piis and Armand Gouffe, the Society " Le Caveau Moderne" dissolved in 1816. These collections of songs resulting and producing by the Caveau will know various increased editions published under various names during all the 19th century (Les Soupers de Momus, le Réveil du Caveau, les enfants du Caveau, la Clef du Caveau...) Enriched by 1 title device and 3 folding plates with noted music. Warterstain on the reverse of the first wrapper and on title. Cfr. Vicaire II, 45-46 (4th edition 1848).
