| | Parisiis, Ex Officina Roberti Stephani, 1538, folio (32.5 X 21.5 cm - 12.8 x 8.5 inches), 378 pp. - 8 ff. (index), contemporary full brown calf which was rebacked with parchment probablely already in the 16th century (wears on corners), spine raised on 4 double bands, around sides decoration of the framings of blind stamped fillets and fleurons with a blind stamped fleurons in center of each board. Third reprinting of the in-folio edition published by Estienne in1529. Robert Estienne had receive a manuscript of Donat from his father-in-law Josse Bade and used it to establish his edition of the Comedies of Terence. With this manuscript and with the assistance of the poet Pierre Rosset, he arrived to restore in his edition the passages left blank in the former editions and corrected the most of the punctuation. Title enriched by the printermark of Robert Stephanus. Contemporary marginal gloses and small ink over amongst others on title. Contemporary handwritten owner's inscription on title (Petri Farnerij). Philippe Renouard in his bibliography on Josse Bade seems not have seen the present edition because he describes it as a in-8 format. Cfr. Renouard p. 47, 5; not in F. Schreiber.
