One of the early ansd rare editions of the works of Plato published in the beginning of the 16th century and also the first of the three editions (1518,1522,1533) of this author given by Josse Bade (1462, Asse near Brussels - 1535) and Jean Petit (1492-1530) in Paris. Dedicated by Ficino to Lorenzo de Medicis, our edition is established on this given in 1491 by B de Choris in Venice. The work is enriched by many engraved ornementals letters and on title by the first version of the mark "Praelum Ascensianum" representing a printer workshop with on the lower part the monogram I V A b (Jodocus Van Asche Badius). The first three leaves of our copy have some worms holes in the blank margins and the five folowed leaves have the bottom tired by ancient waterstains but without loss of text. Twelve other leaves have some worms galleries also in the bottom of the quires but without attack to the text. Finally the last three leaves have also some worms holes and it misses the higher part of the last leaves with loss of text. Cf. Adams P. 1443 ; Ph.
