| | [A Paris] , [Chez Antoine Vitré, ruë des Carmes, au Collège des Lombards ], [1744], in-4 (24.7 x 17.5 cm/9.65 x 6.89 inches), 48 pp. - [8 ] - 271 pp. - 407 pp., contemporary full parchment. Following the collation, our copy (the title page printed in red and black is missing) seems to be the original edition or in any case one of the first editions published by Antoine Vitré in Paris. In this book, Antoine Arnauld (1612 - 1694) also known as the Grand Arnauld defends himself against the virulent attacks he was the subject after the publication of his book "De la Fréquente Communion". More particularly he defends himself about the letter addressed to the Queen Regent, Marie Anne of Austria, by the Reverend Father Petau where this last one attacks methodically the book of Arnauld. Small paper cutting without loss of text in the lower blank margin of the dedication leave to the Queen Regent and owners stamps on 2 leaves.
