Bruxelles - Paris, s.d. {1890}, wooden case (23 X 17.5 X 11 cm or 9.06 x 6.89 x 4.33 inches) covered with brown leather decorated by framings of stamped fillets, leather handle (broken), interior in mahogany tree with brass elements, 2 minor holes in the leather belows, at the back of the camera the frosted glass is missing.
Belgian folding camera dissimulated in a bag, using photographic plates of 13 X 18 cm or 5.12 x 7.09 inches. Trade mark of the "Fabricant d'appareils photographiques Alphonse Roland, rue Terre Neuve 159 Bruxelles". Lens: Anastigmat Zeiss 1.9 F196 m/m Bte SGDG. E Krauss Paris N°5834. Zeiss had conceded to Krauss in Paris licences for some of its optical combinations of which Tessar and Anastigmat. The company of Iena, having not enough production capacity at the end of XIXth century, practised a policy of transfer of licence to various manufacturers in particular Krauss in Paris, Ross in England and Bausch & Lomb in the US.
