T'Amsterdam - 'S Gravenhage, Bij Johannes Ratelband, de Weduwe Jan van Heekeren, Hermanus Uytwerf, Isaak van der Putte, Pieter van Thol en Pieter Husson, 1726, 2 parts in 1 volume, large in folio (42 x 26 cm or 16.54 x 10.24 inches), 9 ff. - 666 pp. - 5 ff., 9 ff. - 608 pp. - 67 pp., contemporary brown full calf (leather restorations on joints, spine-ends, corners and leading edges), spine raised on 6 bands, 6 compartments gilt tooled, one compartment gilt lettered, around sides framing of gilt double rolls with gilt fleurons on corners, rolls on leading edge and turn-ins, gilt edges.
Ninth edition which is scarcer than the preceding ones and not to find in the British Library. Nice copy which is enriched by 2 engraved frontispieces (one with the portrait of the poet), 2 portraits, 2 title devices after J. Goree, 1device after J. Lamfreld and 422 emblematics engravings of A. Van Venne beautifully issued and underlined sometimes with Spanish, Italian, German and French proverbs. One of them illustrate a ancestor of the guillotine.This amazing and amusing set of illustrations enhance splendidly 19 Dutch poetical works. Behalve the described defaults to the binding it is a very nice copy with only minor browning Not in Landwehr.
