BUDE (Guillaume), Commentarii Linguae Graecae, Gulielmo Budaeo, consiliario Regio, supplicumque libellorum in Regia magistro, auctore. Ab eodem accuratè recogniti, atque amplius tertia parte aucti.

Parisiis, Ex officina Roberti Stephani typographi Regii, 1548 (9 cal. Ian.), in-folio (33,5 x 21 cm), 1109 pp. - 21 ff., contemporary full parchment (some little wear on corners and on the lower spine-end), spine raised on 5 bands, red edges.
Fifth edition of this comments on Greek literature of Guillaume Budé (1467-1540) and first edition given by Robert Estienne (1503-1559) in type sizes of "grecs du roi". It is after request of Erasmus that Guillaume Budé undertook this lexicographical compilation of notes on the Greek language. It will stay a long time in France, the reference work for the study of the Greek language and it will served as basis for Robert Estienne's Thesaurus Linguae Graecae. Enriched with a engraved title label. Title page slightly dirtied with small paper tears on fore margin. Some very little waterstains, or foxings but all without gravity. Besides these little lacks, it is a nice copy in his contemporary full vellum binding. Contemporary owner inscription on title and ex-libris on the first pastedown. Cfr. Adams B 3096.
