[France], [ca 1740], 17,5 x 12cm and 14 x 9 cm .
Charming wallets produced in France in the XVIII century. They are embroidered on white and green silk -background (little wear) with silver and gilt threads, of silk ivory, yellow, blue, green and orange.The embroidery develops luxuriant floral designs. "Luxury articles produced for objects of prestige, works of devotion and small almanacs, always gallant, the old technique that constitutes the embroidered binding could develop very particular decorative patterns drawn in particular from fauna and the flora, because of the colors and nuances brought by this technique, which one can in a certain way of comparing with the mosaic-bindings produced by Le Monnier in Paris.The embroidered binding also resorted to ciphers and armorial bearings to complete personalized works, on dedication copies.
